RADFORD, Va. – The UNC Asheville volleyball team dropped it’s second consecutive road match on Saturday afternoon, falling to Big South Conference foe Radford, 3-0, as the Highlanders sweep the season series with the Bulldogs.

RU won the first set 25-15 before handing the Bulldogs a 25-8 loss in the second. The Highlanders prevailed 25-12 in the third set to earn the three-set and season sweep of the Bulldogs. Radford defeated Asheville earlier this season, 3-0, at Justice Center.

The Bulldogs had previously won four out of their last five matches prior to this two game slide.

With the win the Highlanders improve to 16-15, with a 6-8 mark in conference play. The Bulldogs fall to 11-19 overall, and 7-7 in the Big South. Also, with the loss the Blue & White earn the No. 6 seed in the upcoming Big South Conference Volleyball Tournament hosted by Gardner- Webb.

Radford will be the No. 7 seed in the tournament, with final pairings to be announced later this evening once all conference matches are concluded.

Senior Holly Shelton tallied a team-high 10 kills for Asheville, with no other Bulldog earning more than four kills. Katie Davis recorded 15 assists while defensively Rachel Wells led the team in digs with 11. 

Shelton also posted a team-best two service aces in the contest.

Rachel Wiechecki and Yacine Meyer put down nine kills apiece to lead the Highlanders' attack. In addition to Jena Braden handing out 27 assists, Katelyn Meeks and Meyer anchored the backline with 13 and 10 digs, respectively.
