ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's basketball team returns to Kimmel Arena on Thursday night when the Bulldogs host Charleston Southern starting at 7 p.m.

All fans bringing three cans of food will be admitted free as UNC Asheville's SAAC will be collecting food for Manna Food Bank.

Thursday's game will be video-streamed and can be seen under the multimedia tag for a small fee at www.uncabulldogs.com

Asheville (2-20, 0-11 BSC) will look to win its first Big South Conference game of the season against the Buccaneers (6-14, 1-10 BSC). CSU's only league win came two weeks ago when the Lady Bucs downed the Bulldogs, 73-59.

"Returning to Kimmel Arena is something that our kids are always excited about. They have great pride in our facility here and playing in front of their own fans," stated first-year coach Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick.  "Thursday night is faculty appreciation night so we hope that many of our faculty will come out and enjoy the game.

"The game is going to be an outstanding one. CSU has one of the top post players in the league in Lakeitha Alston, and she is always a challenge to contain," added Kirkpatrick. "Kelli Riles is also playing well for us so that match-up in particular will be exciting. We certainly were not proud of our performance down at CSU in January so a better start to the game on Thursday and performance on the boards will be necessary to compete."

Asheville is down to eight healthy players as injuries have ravaged the Bulldog roster. However, the Blue & White continues to play hard every game for 40 minutes.

Senior forward Kelli Riles continues to make her move on being the first UNC Asheville player in the Division I era to score 1,000 career points and grab 1,000 career rebounds. She'll enter the CSU contest with 977 rebounds and 961 points.

Asheville is home again on Saturday when the Bulldogs welcome Coastal Carolina to Kimmel Arena at 2 p.m.

BULLDOG NOTES

Kelli Riles is averaging a double-double this year with 10.9 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. She has scored in double figures in seven straight games and 10 of the last 11 contests. Riles has eight double-doubles on the season, including 20 points and 18 rebounds at Charleston Southern earlier this year.

Asheville defeated the Lady Bucs last year at Kimmel Arena, 75-68.

Asheville's All-Rookie selections from last year - Leah Wormack and Shonese Jones - suffered season-ending injuries earlier this year.

CSU head coach Fred Applin was an assistant at Wake Forest for one season when first-year Bulldog head coach Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick played for the Demon Deacons.

Freshman Paige Love has scored in double figures in three of the last four games.

Asheville committed a season-low of seven fouls at Presbyterian College on Saturday.
