ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women’s tennis team begins its fall season on Friday when it will participate in the Elon Fall Invitational. The three-day event begins on Friday and ends on Sunday.

The Bulldogs return all six letterwinners from last year’s team and have added three players to this year’s club. Head Coach Lise Gregory likes the depth she has now.

“I’m really pleased with our numbers this year,” commented Gregory. “We have depth that we haven’t had in a few years. Our newcomers have a chance to help us right away.”

Asheville will be led this year by its only senior on the roster in Zoe Hamel. Zoe played at #1 flight for the Bulldogs the past two seasons. She’ll be joined by juniors Christine Boissevain and Emily McNall and Amryn Solider plus sophomores Gillian Lewis and Erica Rivero. All six played the whole spring season and led the Blue & White to a 12-10 overall record.

The newcomers comers include sophomore transfer Lauren Booker and freshmen Hunter Hall and Caroline Sherrer.

Gregory expects tough competition for her team this weekend.

“We’ll have a good test at Elon,” stated Gregory. “There will be some very good players there and we’ll see where we stand at this point in the fall.”
