ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men’s basketball team is home on Monday night when the Bulldogs take on Brevard College in an exhibition contest at Kimmel Arena starting at 7 p.m.

Monday’s game can be seen on the Big South Digital Network for free under the multimedia tag at

Fans entering the game will get a free poster of the 2013-14 men’s basketball team.

First-year coach Nick McDevitt is looking forward to getting his team a game under the lights prior to the start of the regular season at Kentucky on Friday night.

“We’re looking forward to playing Brevard Monday night,” declared McDevitt. “Our guys have worked very hard in practice and are anxious to play a game at Kimmel Arena.”

The Bulldogs will be looking at a lot of different combinations Monday. Asheville has nine players on its roster that did not play for the Bulldogs last year.

“We’re going to try and do a lot of different things on Monday,” explained McDevitt. “We’re anxious to see how some of our new guys and our veterans operate when the lights come on.”

Brevard went 4-22 last year but is expected to be much improved this season. The Bulldogs defeated the Tornados last season in an exhibition tilt, 91-60. Brevard downed the Dogs in an exhibition contest four years ago, 73-69 at Justice Center.

This will be the only home game for the men’s team in the month of December. Asheville’s first eight games are away from home. The Bulldogs home opener for the regular season will come on Dec. 12 against Bluefield.
