ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women’s basketball team looks to end the month of November with a win as the Bulldogs host Bluefield College Tuesday night at Kimmel Arena starting at 7 p.m.

Tuesday’s game can be seen via the Big South Digital Network for free under the multimedia tag at uncabulldogs.com.

Asheville looks to put behind a disappointing 75-64 defeat to North Carolina Central Saturday afternoon at Kimmel. The Bulldogs trailed by 19 at halftime and made several spirited rallies in the second half before running out of time.

Brenda Mock Kirkpatrick’s club faces a Bluefield squad that is 3-3 on the season and has several NCAA Division I transfers on its roster.

“Bluefield is a very athletic team that has been battled-tested with several games under their belt. They will challenge us with dribble penetration and attacking the glass for second shots,” stated Kirkpatrick. “We are working on tweaking some of our defensive miscues from Saturday’s game against N.C. Central. I was encouraged by our second half effort offensively against Central's zone, and we will continue to learn how to play tougher defense down the stretch.”

Freshman guard Ja’Da Brayboy was a bright spot in defeat with a career-high 16 points. Shonese Jones added 11 points. Jeanne Buckner just missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.

Bluefield is led by senior guard Teqa McNeal who is averaging 19.2 points per game. Forward Asia Wheeler is averaging 10 rebounds per game.

Junior guard Brittany Gwyn leads Asheville in scoring with a 10.2 mark. Sophomore guard Paige Love and junior guard Shonese Jones are both averaging 9.2 points per game. Buckner leads Asheville with a 6.8 rebounding average.

After Tuesday’s game, the Bulldogs open Big South Conference play at Charleston Southern next Monday (Dec. 2) night at 7 p.m.
