ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men’s tennis team went to 2-1 on the young season with a 7-0 victory over visiting Lees-McRae Sunday afternoon at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.


The Bulldogs won the doubles point easily as the three doubles team only lost one game in three matches played.


In singles play, Asheville won five matches in straight sets. The only match that went three sets came in the second flight as Alex Croker battled Tito Paplanski of Lees-McRae. Croker won the first set 6-2 before falling in a tie-breaker, 6-5. The two played a pro-set with Croker winning the match 9-7 to complete the Bulldog sweep.


Asheville plays again next weekend at Elon with two matches. The Bulldogs face Norfolk State on Friday and then battle Elon the next day.
