ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women’s swimming team will have six home meets this season as head coach Elizabeth Lykins announced the 2014-15 schedule today.
The Bulldogs are scheduled to participate in 11 different meets during the regular season. Asheville’s first home meet will be in an exhibition meet against Mars Hill on Sept. 20 at Justice Center Pool.
“We are excited this schedule will present us with the challenges needed to improve throughout the year,” declared Lykins. “Our ultimate goal is to be at our best for conference championships, and these meets will allow us to build and peak in late February.
“The team also looks to continue the distinct advantage we have in our home pool with six home meets this season and the great support of Bulldog Nation,” added Lykins.
Asheville’s first regular-season meet will be two-day affair at the North Carolina Invitational in Greensboro on Oct. 3-4.
The Bulldogs will be home for the rest of the month of October. Asheville faces Campbell on Oct. 11, Brenau University on Oct. 24 and then a tri-meet with Marshall and Gardner-Webb on Oct. 25.
Lykins’ club travels to Georgia Southern (Nov. 8) and the Wingate Winter Frenzy (Nov. 21-23) in the month of November. They’ll attend a tournament in Florida sometime in December that will be announced at a later date.
In January, the Bulldogs will have a tri-meet with Lenoir-Rhyne and Queens (Jan.2) in Hickory. Asheville has another tri-meet the next week (Jan. 10) at North Carolina A&T with North Florida.
The final home meet of the year will be on Jan. 31 when the Bulldogs celebrate Senior Day against North Carolina A&T.
Asheville will compete in the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Championships at the University of Georgia from Feb. 18-21.
