ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville Athletics Department was proud to see 23 of its student-athletes graduate Saturday morning in commencement ceremonies held at Kimmel Arena.


The 2014 student-athletes are Rachel Carson (Women’s Track and Field), Bobby Castro (Men’s Soccer), Brian Connolly (Baseball), D.J. Cunningham (Men’s Basketball), Jaimie Dorfman (Volleyball), Meredith Foster-Ristic (Women’s Track and Field and Volleyball) , Zoe Hamel (Women’s Tennis), Kurt Hibert (Men’s Track and Field), Amanda Knapp (Women’s Soccer), Jaron Lane (Men’s Basketball), Kristen Lawson (Women’s Soccer & Swimming), Hans Lohmeyer (Men’s Soccer), Corey McClintock (Women’s Track and Field), Robert McIntosh (Baseball), Eli Miller (Baseball), Anna Moore (Volleyball), Scott Robinson (Baseball), Dean Roland (Baseball), Abra Sickles (Women’s Basketball), Kyle Smith(Track and Field), Ethan Steible (Baseball), Tarrah Tate (Women’s Soccer) and Rachel Wells (Volleyball).


Women’s tennis player Zoe Hamel earned the Manly E. Wright Award by the Honors and Degree Programs Committee.  The award is presented to the student graduating first in scholarship. 



Sophomore men’s basketball player Marcus Neely represented the university when the late Civil Rights leader Franklin McCain was awarded an Honorary Degree from UNC Asheville.
