ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Dean Roland pitched six strong innings as UNC Asheville downed Gardner-Webb 3-1 in Saturday’s second game of a Big South Conference double-header at Greenwood Field.

With two outs, Eli Miller came up with another clutch hit. His two-run single to center gave the home team an early 2-0 lead.

Asheville pushed the margin to 3-0 in the third. McIntosh led off with a double and quickly scored on Treadway’s RBI-single.

The visitors plated a run in the fourth. Nick Triplett walked with two outs. Best singled to center, got caught in a run-down and was eventually thrown out. Triplett scored on the play.
