GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNC Asheville junior thrower Simon Haake finished 38th in the javelin at the NCAA Regional Friday morning at Belk Stadium.
Haake's best throw was his first one at 58.08 meters. He did not qualify for the NCAA Championshships next week in Eugene Oregon.
"Simon was a little rusty today because he's been hurt the past few weeks and hasn't been able to throw as much," commented Bulldog coach Jesse Norman. "However, the fact he made it to the regionals is pretty impressive. This year's regional performance for Simon was simply a chance for him to get some experience. He'll learn from this experience and nobody he competed against today will out-work him over the next year."
Junior sprinter Natalie Pearson will run at 8 p.m. tonight in the 200 meters.
