Pearson Qualifies for Regional Finals in 200 Meters

GREENSBORO, N.C. - UNC Asheville junior sprinter Natalie Pearson qualified for the finals of the 200-meter dash at the East Regional Friday night at Irwin Belk Stadium.

Pearson finished second in her heat with a time of 23.76 and finished 16th overall in the qualifying event. She will join 23 other runners tomorrow at 7:50 p.m. in the 200-meter finals.

"Natalie lives to fight another day," stated Bulldog coach Jesse Norman. "She ran a great race tonight and got the job done. We will see what happens tomorrow."

The Sheffield England native becomes the first UNC Asheville track and field particpant to ever advance to a regional final. If she can finish among the top 12 tomorrow night, Pearson will advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene Oregon next weekend.
