ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville junior sprinter Natalie Pearson will leave on Tuesday to head to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships that will be held at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon starting on Wednesday. Pearson will participate in the 200 meters Thursday afternoon starting at 4:30 p.m. PST.
Bulldog Head Coach Jesse Norman will accompany Pearson to Eugene. He will also be writing a blog throughout the week, giving Asheville fans a look inside Person's preparation for the championship. Norman will send blogs starting Tuesday night and they will be posted at www.uncabulldogs.com.
Natalie is the first UNC Asheville track and field student-athlete to ever make it to the national meet. Pearson is ranked 20th nationally in the 200 meters with a time of 23.25 that she had at the Big South Outdoor Championships in April.
She will be one of 24 runners participating in the 200-meters on Thursday as she'll look to get into the finals on Saturday.
"No matter what happens this week this season has been a great year for Natalie," stated Norman. "She'll do her best this week, and we'll see what happens."
