Today was a pretty chilly day. After breakfast at the hotel, we went to the track for a short workout. Natalie looks a million bucks better today, a lot smoother and explosive today. I think she got the flight out of her system. After working out we walked back to the hotel before heading to Wal-Mart and lunch.
I've come to realize that Eugene is a somewhat difficult city to drive around. I'm sure if I was here for a little while I'd be able to figure it out but right now it just confuses the daylights out of me! After our lunch break, we decided to go watch some of the meet. Man the NCAA meet is awesome! All of the athletes here are incredible. However after watching a couple of the women's 100m heats, Natalie turned to me and talked about how the times weren't incredibly fast. I think that that is a good sign as I feel like she is starting to believe that she belongs at this level. We'll get to see on Thursday. I believe she is ready to go and will make the school and track program proud.
On a side note, when I woke up this morning and turned on the TV the local news was on and they were getting ready to turn it over to the weather and guess who was on - Ingrid Allstaedt, one of our former athletes! How cool is that! I get to fly across the country and see one of our former student-athletes on the local news station giving the weather forecast. Then to top it off, Ingrid came by the meet and took Natalie and me to a restaurant downtown for dinner. It was awesome to see someone from the past!
Thursday is our big day. Remember to check the website for results from the meet. Natalie is in the first heat, lane 8. She'll run at 7:30 p.m. Asheville time.
