Former UNC Asheville right-handed pitcher Ryan Dull made an impressive debut in professional baseball Friday night while pitching for the Arizona A's in the Arizona Rookie League.
Dull came into the game in the fourth inning on Friday against the Arizona Brewers and struck out the side. He was given credit for the win as the A's crushed the Brewers 18-2.
The Winston-Salem native was drafted by Oakland in the 32nd round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft back on June 6. Temperature at game time on Friday was 106 degrees.
"I'm glad to see Ryan off to a great start," stated Bulldog coach Tom Smith. "The Arizona Rookie League is a tough league and if he can have success there, he might move up this summer in Oakland's organization."
