COLUMBIA, S.C. - In the final match of the Gamecock Invitational presented by Courtyard Marriott, the UNC Asheville volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision (16-25, 22-25, 16-25) to host South Carolina on Saturday evening.
With the loss the Bulldogs fell to 0-4 on the young season, while the Gamecocks stay undefeated at 4-0.
"We were able to get a lot of young players some good experience against some quality opponents this weekend," said Asheville head coach Frederico Santos. "We just have to keep working together to get better throughout the season and the results will take care of themselves."
The Bulldogs were led on offense by freshman Christine Lakatos, who had eight kills. Anna Moore and Holly Shelton posted six kills apiece, while Meredith Foster and Chelsie Kenley each had four.
Setter Katie Davis recorded 21 assists, while Rachel Wells tallied eight digs on defense.
