SAVANNAH, GA. - The UNC Asheville volleyball team picked up their first win of the season, earning a 3-0 victory over host Savannah State on Friday afternoon at the 2012 Tiger Invitational, finishing with set victories of 25-7, 25-10 and 25-12 against the Tigers.


Senior outside hitter Holly Shelton finished with a match-high nine kills on 23 attempts, earning a .304 hitting percentage for the contest. Meredith Foster posted eight kills while Christine Lakatos added seven to the Bulldogs' total, who hit for a .230 clip as a team.


Freshman Katie Davis recorded 26 assists directing the Asheville offense, while Lakatos led the Bulldogs in digs with 12. Foster also posted three blocks in the match, including two solo.


The Tigers were led offensively by Bryana Gadis, posting four kills and three service aces in the contest. Ashlee Butler led the team in digs with 11.


The Bulldogs will finish out the 2012 Tiger Invitational on Saturday, taking on Maryland Eastern Shore at 11 a.m. before facing Southern Utah at 3 p.m.
