HIGH POINT, N.C. - Kaitlyn Eckert scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season early in the match, but High Point scored the next five goals en route to a 5-1 Big South Conference women's soccer victory over UNC Asheville Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (3-11-0, 1-5-0 BSC) jumped out in front 1-0 as Eckert scored for the third straight game at 7:27.
But the Panthers began to take control of the match after the first 15 minutes. Senior forward Danielle Schepler scored three goals in a seven-minute stretch to give High Point a 3-1 lead after 27 minutes.
The home team added another goal from Kelli Jolene in the 31st minute to push the margin to 4-1.
In the second half, Taylor Parker finished the scoring with a goal at the 57th minute to give the Panthers a 5-1 lead.
High Point held a 29-8 advantage in shots. Asheville goalkeeper Heather Muller made 11 saves for Asheville.
High Point improved to 5-4-6 overall on the year and 3-0-2 in league play.
