ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's soccer team starts a three-game homstand on Wednesday when the Bulldogs host Big South foe Gardner-Webb at Greenwood Field starting at 4 p.m.
Wednesday's match will be video-streamed and can be seen under the multimedia tag at www.uncabulldogs.com.
The Bulldogs (1-11-0, 0-5-0 BSC) look to snap an 11-game losing streak on Wednesday and picked up their first conference win of the season.
Asheville battled hard at #12 Coastal Carolina Saturday night before falling 3-0. The Bulldogs trailed 1-0 for most of the match before the Chanticleers scored twice in the final minutes to seal the victory.
"Our group played hard on the defensive side of the ball on Saturday at Coastal Carolina, and we will look to bring that same determination on Wednesday against Gardner Webb," commented Bulldog coach Matt Kern. "We are still looking to improve with our off the ball movement and decision making while in possession."
The Runnin' Bulldogs have a 2-8-1 overall record and 1-1-1 worksheet in the Big South Conference. Gardner-Webb edged Asheville last season, 1-0.
The Bulldogs three-game homestand continues on Saturday when they host Radford at 2:30 p.m.
Junior forward Kenneth Lingerfelt leads Asheville in scoring with two goals, one assist for five points. Patrick Phillip has contributed two goals. Sophomore goalkeeper Dan Jackson has made 56 saves in 10 matches.
