WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The UNC Asheville indoor track and field teams began competition on Friday at the Hilton Garden Invitational.

 

Kurt Hibert highlighted Asheville's performance on Friday with an eighth-place finish in the weight throw against a tough field. He had a throw of 16.71 meters which is a new school record.

 

Sarah Gentry made her debut in the 400 meters and finished with a time of 1:00.01.

 

Miles Brown ran in the 400 meters on the men's side and posted a time of 53.47. Milan Ristic just missed qualifying for the finals of the 60 meters with a school record time of 6.96.

 

Most of the competition will take place starting Saturday morning.
