ASHEVILLE, N.C - The UNC Asheville Bulldogs will play Jacksonville State in the Ramada Worldwide BracketBusters on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Kimmel Arena starting at 4:30 p.m.
Jacksonville State is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference and have posted a 15-7 record on the season. The Gamecocks are 7-4 in the OVC.
"We know that Jacksonville State is a good team with a very good record," commented Asheville coach Eddie Biedenbach. "The Ohio Valley Conference has a great tradition in college basketball and the fact that Jacksonville State has such a good league record shows what a solid program they have."
This is the second time the Bulldogs have hosted a BracketBuster game. Two years ago, the Bulldogs fell to Northeastern of the Colonial Conference, 83-82 at Justice Center. Asheville defeated the Huskies in December in Boston, 79-73.
In the latest RPI released by the NCAA, JSU is 146th, while UNC Asheville is ranked 164. The Bulldogs have the highest RPI ranking in the Big South.
Asheville has a five-game winning streak and has improved its record to 13-10. The Bulldogs are 7-2 in league play and in second place in the South Division. Biedenbach's charges host Winthrop in a key league battle Wednesday night at Kimmel Arena starting at 7 p.m.
