RALEIGH, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men’s and women’s track field teams began competition at the prestigious Raleigh Relays at Paul Kerr Stadium on Friday.


Both teams had some highlights on the day with the finals of the meet to be held on Saturday.


Emma Bussard took sixth place in the 3000 steeplechase as she finished with a time of 10:51.


On the men’s side, David Ryland took fifth (9:58) in the 3000 steeplechase.


Milan Ristic qualified for the finals of the 110 hurdles. He will be seeded third for Saturdays’ finals with a time of 13.88.


Andy Thornburg placed seventh in the 5000 meters at 16:05


In women’s action, Sarah Gentry competed in the 1500 meters. She took 11th in the event with a time of 4:40.


Highlighting the field events was Kurt Hibert. He competed in the discus (40.16) and the shot put (12.85). Ashlei Clodfelter had a throw of 7.49 in the shot put.
