ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Nick McDevitt era will begin in November against one of the nation’s top men’s basketball programs.

UNC Asheville will open the 2013-14 season at 2012 national champion Kentucky in Rupp Arena. The opening game of the year will take place on Friday, Nov. 8 at a time yet to be determined.

The Wildcats went 21-12 last year and fell in the first round of the NIT at Robert Morris. The Bulldogs went 16-16 last season and lost in the first round of the Big South Conference Championship.

McDevitt, who became the Bulldogs sixth head coach on April 26, is looking forward to the challenge of facing Kentucky at Rupp Arena.

“This is going to be an exciting challenge for our players to open the season against a team like Kentucky on the road,” stated McDevitt. “We’re looking at it as a great opportunity for our program.”

The rest of the 2013-14 schedule should be released soon.
