ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville track and field teams will send some individuals to a pair of meets this weekend to try to qualify for the NCAA Regional later in the month.

Sarah Gentry, Kurt Hibert and Ashlei Clodfelter will participate in the Bob Pollock Invitational at Clemson on Friday and Saturday. The trio will then join Emma Bussard at the Duke Twilight on Sunday.

Gentry will compete in the 800 meters. She won the Big South Championship in that event in record time two weeks ago. Sarah won the 800 meters in school record and Big South-record time of 2:10.21.

Clodfelter will compete in the javelin. She finished third at the Big South meet with a throw of 42.24 meters.

Hibert will try and get to the regionals in the hammer throw. He also finished in third place at the Big South championships. Hibert’s top throw two weeks ago was 56.05 meters.

Bussard would qualify right now for the regional but hopes to improve her time in the 3000 meters steeplechase. She won the Big South championship in this event with a school-record time of 10:38.77.
