RADFORD, Va. – In their second Big South Conference match of the season the UNC Asheville volleyball team fell to Radford on Friday evening, falling 25-20, 25-21, 25-23 at the Dedmon Center on the campus of the Highlanders.

With the setback the Bulldogs drop to 10-7 on the season, with a 1-1 mark in Big South matches. Radford improves to 13-6 overall while staying undefeated in conference with a 2-0 record.

Senior outside hitter Anna Moore tallied a team-high 11 kills for the Blue & White, while sophomore outside hitter Christine Lakatos added eight kills to the Bulldogs’ total. Rachel Wells posted a match-high 22 digs and setter Katie Davis posted four block assists on defense for Asheville.

Radford’s Rachel Wiechecki recorded an impressive 19 kills in the three-set victory, while chipping in 14 digs on defense. Cheyanne James and Megan Short each tallied eight kills for the Highlanders, with Jena Braden (27) and Rachel Flores (13) combining for 40 assists while splitting time at setter.

The Highlanders hit for a .207 mark as a team with 50 kills overall, while holding Asheville to 33 kills and a .107 clip.

Radford has now won four matches in a row with the Bulldogs, with Asheville’s last victory at Radford coming during the 2011 season.

UNC Asheville will be back in action tomorrow when they continue their road trip to Virginia, taking on Big South foe Liberty at 2 p.m. The Blue & White have not won at the Vines Center since the 2009 season.
