BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky scored 13 runs on 18 hits en route to a 13-2 victory over UNC Asheville in non-conference baseball action on Sunday afternoon at Nick Denes Field.


With the win WKU improves to 5-2 on the season while also completing the series sweep of the Bulldogs (1-3).


The Bulldogs recorded two runs on 11 hits, with first baseman Hunter Bryant leading the way for the Blue & White offensively. Third baseman Robert McIntosh and leftfielder Eli Miller each went 2-for-4 at the plate for Asheville.


Hilltopper leadoff batter Cody Wofford was a perfect 4-for-4 at the dish, with three runs scored. First baseman Ryan Church was 2-for-4, with a game-high four runs batted in and two runs scored. Catcher Ty Downing was 2-for-4 as well driving in three RBI to help the WKU cause.


Asheville starter Dean Roland got roughed up in 4.2 innings, allowing seven runs (six earned) on 10 hits with one walk and five strikeouts to fall to 1-1 on the season.


WKU’s Jake Thompson improved to 2-0 on the season, getting the start and allowing one run on seven hits in five innings of work.
