Senior forward Jaron Lane of the men’s basketball team is this week’s recipient of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Athlete of the Week at UNC Asheville.
Each week the school selects a BCBSNC Athlete of the Week upon their performance from the previous week's action.
This is the second straight week that Lane has been honored. Jaron scored 22 points with six rebounds in Asheville’s 107-100 overtime loss to Winthrop Wednesday night.
On Saturday in his final appearance at Kimmel Arena, he scored a team-high 24 points in the Bulldogs 83-71 win over Gardner-Webb. He hit his first 10 field goal attempts of the game and was a perfect 3-of-3 from the three-point line. Jaron also grabbed eight rebounds against the Runnin’ Bulldogs.
Jaron and UNC Asheville will play again Friday afternoon when the Bulldogs play in the quarterfinals of the Big South Conference championship. Asheville will play the winner of Presbyterian and Radford Friday at 2 p.m.
