ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Patrick Marshall drove in four runs as Radford completed a three-game Big South Conference sweep with an 11-6 win over UNC Asheville Sunday afternoon.

The Highlanders (30-19, 15-9 BSC) also took advantage of 11 walks, six wild pitches and two hit batters to pick up their fifth straight conference win.

Asheville (13-36, 4-19 BSC) was led at the plate by Robert McIntosh with two hits and three RBIs. Kyle Towles and Phillip Treadway added two hits each.

RU reliever Daniel Bridgeman (3-1) earned the win for the Highlanders as he pitched 4.1 innings and allowed just two hits with four strikeouts and one run.

Radford opened the scoring in the first inning. Josh Gardiner hit the first pitch for a single to left-field. Josh Reavis walked to put runners on first and second.

Marshall singled to deep center to score Gardiner for a 1-0 RU lead. But Asheville starter Corey Randall was able to get out of the inning without further damage.

The Bulldogs came right back in the bottom of the frame. Tanner Bush worked a walk after being down 0-2 in the count. Treadway doubled to right-center to put runners on second and third.

McIntosh followed with a two-run single to put the home team in front, 2-1.

RU struck for four runs in the second to go back in front 5-2. Marshall’s two-run double was the big blow in the inning.

Asheville fought back in the third with four runs to regain the lead at 6-5. Treadway led off with a double, followed by a run-scoring single from McIntosh to narrow the lead to 5-3. Towles had an RBI-single to make it 5-4. A bases-loaded walk and a hit batter put the Dogs in the lead at 6-5.

Marshall drove in a run in the fourth to knot the game at 6-6. Zach Woolcock scored on a wild pitch in the fifth to put the visitors in front for good at 7-6.

RU added a run in the sixth to lead 8-6 before Alexander Lee’s two-run single in the seventh pushed the margin to 10-6.
