CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women’s soccer team was picked to finish in 10th place this year in the Big South Conference preseason poll. The poll is voted on by the coaches in the league and was announced today by the conference office.

Asheville went 6-11-2 in 2013 and finished ninth in the league with a 2-7-2 BSC mark. The Bulldogs earned a point against eventual conference champ and preseason favorite Liberty last year with a 0-0 tie at Greenwood Field.

Michelle Demko’s club returns eight starters and 14 letterwinners from last year’s club. Heading up the returners are seniors Amanda Dailor (Midfielder), Kaitlyn Eckert (Forward), Heather Muller (Goalkeeper) and Megan Foster (Midfielder).

Asheville plays its first exhibition game this Friday evening at mountain rival Western Carolina starting at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs open the 2014 season at home Chattanooga on Friday, Aug. 22 starting at 6 p.m.
