ASHEVILE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women’s soccer team plays its first road game of the 2014 season when the Bulldogs travel to USC Upstate Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
Asheville is looking to go 2-0-0 for the second straight year on Sunday. The Bulldogs won their opening game on Friday by a 2-1 score over Chattanooga. Goals from Amanda Dailor and Kennedy Garrett gave the Blue & White the win. Asheville out-shot the Mocs, 26-7.
USC Upstate opened the season on Friday and fell at The Citadel, 1-0 on a goal in the second half. The Spartans outshot Citadel, 10-8.
This will be the third meeting between the teams with Asheville holding a 2-0-0 advantage. The Bulldogs won at Greenwood Field last year, 2-0.
After Sunday’s match, Asheville is home for four straight matches starting with a game against Wofford on Aug. 29th starting at 3 p.m.
Senior goalkeeper Heather Muller started her 59th straight game on Friday against Chattanooga.
The Bulldogs won their opening match for the second straight season.
Senior midfielder Amanda Dailor scored the first goal of the season for the second straight year. She also scored the first goal last season in a 2-1 win over Eastern Kentucky.
Asheville had 26 shots on Friday against Chattanooga, the most in a game since the 2012 season.
With two assists in Friday’s game, senior forward Kaitlyn Eckert now has 50 career points.
