CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Asheville junior center Kenny George (Chicago, Ill.) and Winthrop senior guard Chris Gaynor have been selected as the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men’s Basketball co-Players of the Week. The Big South made the announcement on Tuesday.

George helped the Bulldogs to two wins, pushing UNC Asheville to 4-0 on the season, by averaging 15.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.0 blocks and .867 percent from the floor in the two games.  In Asheville’s 83-71 win at Campbell, George recorded the first triple-double in school history with 20 points, 12 rebounds and 10 blocked shots.  He also was 8-of-8 from the floor and handed out three assists.  Earlier in the week against Brevard, George scored 10 points, was 5-of-7 from the field and blocked two shots in just 16 minutes of action.

It marked the second straight week that the junior center has been honored. He was named Big South Player of the Week last week after leading Asheville to two wins and just missing a triple-double against Lees-McRae with 15 points, 10 blocked shots and nine rebounds.

The Bulldogs moved to 5-0 on the season when they defeated Western Carolina Tuesday night, 83-73. It’s the best start in school history. Asheville hosts East Tennessee State Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
