ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's tennis team will be in action this weekend with two matches. The Bulldogs play at UNC Greensboro on Saturday at 10 a.m., followed by a home match against Mars Hill at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
Asheville is 1-1 on the young season with an exciting 4-3 victory over Davidson last Saturday. It was the Bulldogs first ever win over the Wildcats. However, Asheville fell in its first road match of the year Wednesday when it lost at North Carolina Central, 5-2.
"We have a talented team but it's a young team that's still making the transition to collegiate tennis," explained Bulldog coach Lise Gregory. "There's going to be a few bumps in the road, but they are extremely talented and will better with each match.
"This weekend sees us playing two matches against good competition," added Gregory. "UNC Greensboro has a solid program. Mars Hill went to its conference championship game last spring."
There is no admission charge to Sunday's home match at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown location.
