ASHEVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina was able to win a close doubles point and then won close singles matches en route to a 6-1 victory over UNC Asheville in women's tennis action at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown Friday afternoon.
The Bulldogs (3-5) picked up a singles win from Jenna Dodge. She defeated Dana Gray, 6-4, 6-2 at #5 flight.
Asheville got a doubles win at #2 as Christine Boissevain and Emily McNall won their match, 8-4. ECU won at #3 flight. The doubles point came down to the #1 flight as Devon Cavanaugh and Zoe Hamel took Danielle Terpko and Yilan Zhang to a tie-breaker but fell 9-8.
The Bulldogs open Big South Conference play at home on Saturday against Campbell at the Asheville Racquet Club starting at approximately 5 p.m.
