ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville women's tennis team hosts King College Saturday morning at the Asheville Racquet Club downtown starting at 11 a.m. Admission is free.
The hard-luck Bulldogs have had to deal with some key injuries this year, including a season-ending injury to sophomore Zoe Hamel two weeks ago. Hamel has been playing #1 in singles for Asheville all year. Senior Devon Cavanaugh has been slowed by an injury, as well.
"We've been really snake-bit the last two season with injuries," commented Asheville coach Lise Gregory. "We have a very young team this season and they're really getting better with each match but it takes time.
Asheville is 5-9 on the season with its top four players in singles all being freshman. Jenna Dodge has posted a 7-7 singles record this year. Freshman Emily McNall and Christine Boissevain are 7-7 in doubles action this season.
