CHARLESTON, S.C. - The UNC Asheville women's tennis team looks to win its first Big South Conference match of the year when the Bulldogs play at Charleston Southern today and Coastal Carolina on Saturday.
The hard-luck Bulldogs (6-9, 0-2 BSC) have been hit hard by injuries this season and currently have four freshmen playing in their singles line-up. Asheville won in its last outing as the Bulldogs downed King College, 6-0 last Saturday.
"We're a young, young team that is getting its feet wet," commented Bulldog head coach Lise Gregory. "However, our girls are doing a nice job of adjusting and learning how to play on the collegiate level. The experience we have right now is going to make us sophomores and juniors by the end of the year."
Freshman Jenna Dodge leads the Asheville effort and is 8-5 on the season in singles play. Freshmen Emily McCall and Christine Boissevain have teamed up in doubles to go 8-7 on the season, including a 5-1 mark at the #2 doubles flight.
