Ten Bulldogs Will Play Summer Baseball

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville baseball team will have 10 players who will play this summer in various summer leagues throughout the country.

Close to home, the Bulldogs have three players for the Asheville Redbirds of the Collegiate Baseball League. They include first baseman Hunter Bryant, infielder Eli Miller, outfielder Andrew Kirkland and catcher Sam Turner.

Asheville has two players participating in the Coastal Plains League. They include outfielder Todd Joyner who will play with the Columbia Blowfish, while infielder Robbie McIntosh plays for the Thomasville Hi Toms.

Right-handed pitcher Brian Connolly will play for the Baltimore Redbirds of Cal Ripken Collegiate League. Right-hander hurler Rene Martinez will play in the Northwoods League and compete for the Alexandria Beetles.

Left-handed pitcher Adam Spracklin plans to play for the Will County Cracker Jackets of the Midwest Collegiate League.

Right-hander pitcher Justin Hunt is playing for the Kernersville Bulldogs of the Carolinas/Virginia Summer Collegiate League and has two saves in the first week of the season.

The leagues start games this week and play through the end of July. We will try to provide updates on how each Bulldog is doing throughout the summer.
