SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The UNC Asheville men's tennis team enjoyed some success this weekend when the Bulldogs competed in the Wofford College Fall Invitational at the Reeves Tennis Center. The weekend was highlighted by senior Matt Waissen winning a flight.


The tournament involved teams from Appalachian State, Wofford and UNC Asheville. In singles action, competitors were broken up into flights one through seven based on their ranking.  On the doubles side, pairs where split into three groups also based on rankings.


Waissen went 3-0 on the weekend and claimed the flight two title. He knocked off two players from Appalachian State and one from Wofford. He did not lose a set in his three victories.


Adrien Langeard went 2-0 in flight one. Daniel Kripak, John Schubel and Brett Landau all went 1-1 in their singles matches during the weekend.


In doubles action, Waissen and Langeard teamed up to split two matches.


"We had some good results this weekend," commented Bulldog assistant coach Tom Hand. "This weekend's competition was quite good and will prepare us for the rest of the season."


UNC Asheville finishes up its fall season at the Winthrop Invitational the weekend of Nov. 2-4.
