For the second time this year, Keith Hornsby has been named Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina Athlete of Week for his play this past week.


Each week the school selects a BCBSNC Athlete of the Week upon their performance from the previous week's action.


Keith had two productive games last week as UNC Asheville lost at 12-2 Charlotte in overtime on Wednesday, 71-63 before the Bulldogs opened Big South Conference play with an 83-69 victory at Liberty Saturday night.


The Williamsburg, Va. native scored 16 points and grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds against the 49ers Wednesday night. On Saturday, he scored a career-high 27 points, grabbed six rebounds, dished out three assists and had two steals as Asheville won its league opener for the eighth straight year.


Keith leads the Big South in both free throw percentage (.953) and three-point percentage (.455). His free throw percentage is second in the nation going into Monday's games. Hornsby is 41-of-43 from the charity stripe and has made 25 consecutive free throws entering Wednesday's game at Gardner-Webb.


Keith was also selected as BCBSNC Athlete of the Week on Dec. 17. The Bulldogs play at Gardner-Webb Wednesday night at 7 p.m., before returning home to host Radford Saturday at 2 p.m.
