WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The UNC Asheville indoor track and field teams will compete this weekend starting today at the Hilton Garden Invitational.

Both teams will face strong fields in each event. Asheville has posted some strong results in the first three meets of the season and hopes to build on that success in the facility that will host the Big South Championship meet in three weeks (Feb. 21-22).

"We're bringing a full team to compete this weekend," stated Bulldog coach Jesse Norman. "Both teams have made steady progress throughout the year and hopefully we will peak at the Big South meet.

"This weekend will once again see us go against some of the top teams in the nation," added Norman. "We'll be tested in every event we compete in throughout the weekend."

The Bulldogs were led last weekend at Kentucky by Milan Ristic and Sarah Gentry. Ristic took second in the 60-meter hurdles against a very tough field. Gentry posted a third-place finish in the 800 meters and her time of 2:12 is the best in the Big South Conference this season.

Gentry will run in the 800 meters this weekend and also compete in the mile.
