FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Junior sprinter Milan Ristic became the first UNC Asheville track performer on Friday to ever compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday when he competed in the 60-meter hurdles.  The championships are being held at the Randall Tyson Track Center on the campus of the University of Arkansas.

Ristic was one of just 16 sprinters to compete in the event. He was in the first heat and finished seventh with a time of 7.80. Spencer Adams of Clemson won the heat with a time of 7.62.

The native of Serbia did not qualify for Saturday's finals.

"Milan ran against some great competition tonight," commented Bulldog coach Jesse Norman. "He battled hard but just to get here is a victory in itself. I know he's ready for the outdoor season to start next week. Hopefully, he can get to nationals in outdoors, as well."

The Bulldog track and field outdoor teams open the 2013 season at the 49er Invitational next weekend starting on Thursday, March 14.
