ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville baseball team is home on Wednesday afternoon when the Bulldogs host Wofford College at Greenwood Field starting at 4 p.m.

Wednesday’s game is scheduled to be broadcast via video-streaming at

The game with the Terriers (16-26) ends an eight-game homestand for Asheville. The Bulldogs (13-29) will be trying to complete a three-game season sweep of Wofford. Asheville posted a 7-5 victory over the Terriers on March 12 and an 8-5 win on April. Both games were in Spartanburg.

Tom Smith’s club is coming off a difficult and disappointing weekend as the Bulldogs dropped three Big South Conference games to High Point at home. Asheville fell 8-5, 3-2 in 10 innings and 7-6 on Monday. The Dogs were either tied or in the lead going into the eighth inning of all three games.

Robert McIntosh is Asheville’s top hitter going into Wednesday’s action. He leads the Dogs with a .331 average. Todd Joyner (.313) will carry a 10-game hitting streak into Wednesday’s contest.

After Wednesday’s contest, the Bulldogs are the road for their seven games and don’t play at Greenwood Field again until May 16 vs. Winthrop.

Wofford is coached by UNC Asheville graduate Todd Interdonatao. Todd played for the Bulldogs from 1999-2000. He served as a graduate assistant coach in 2002 and also worked for the Sports Information Office.

Shortstop Tommy Houmard has reached base in 24 straight games.

The Bulldogs are 4-7 in one-run games this year and have lost six of their last seven one-run affairs.

Asheville begins a three-game Big South Conference series at Gardner-Webb Friday night. Friday’s game will be broadcast on ESPN3.

The Bulldogs are 4-5 vs. Southern Conference teams this year, including a 15-0 win over current SoCon leader Western Carolina on April 3.
