Former UNC Asheville pitcher Ryan Dull will be pitching in the Arizona Fall League later this month after a great 2013 season where he pitched for three teams in the Oakland A’s organization.

Dull began the 2013 season with the Beloit (Wis.) Snappers of the Midwest League. He pitched the first half of the year there and was dominant. The Winston-Salem native posted a league-leading 12 saves for Beloit with a 2.10 ERA with 35 strikeouts in 25.2 innings of work. Dull was picked to pitch in the Midwest All-Star Game in Dayton, Ohio in June.

Right after the All-Star game, he was promoted for the first time to Stockton (Calif.) of the California League.  While pitching for the Ports, Dull compiled a 1-3 record with a microscopic ERA of 1.59 and six saves. He struck out 24 batters in 16.2 innings of work.

In late July, Dull was promoted yet again; this time to the A’s Double A club, the Midland Rockhounds of the Texas League.

He found out late in August that he would pitch for Oakland in the Arizona Fall League.

Ryan finished the 2013 season with a 2-5 overall record, 19 saves, a 2.40 ERA with 78 strikeouts in 60 innings of work. He walked just nine batters all year.

“Ryan being asked to pitch in the Arizona Fall League is pretty prestigious,” commented Bulldog coach Tom Smith. “A lot of players that play in this league end up playing in the “show.” We’re proud of Ryan and anxious to see what’s next for him in 2014.”
