CHARLOTTE, N.C. – UNC Asheville guard Andrew Rowsey was named The Crons Brand Big South Conference Freshman of the Week for games played Nov. 11-17. The league made the announcement Monday afternoon.


Rowsey became the first UNC Asheville freshman in 10 years with back-to-back 20-point performances, as he scored 24 points at Western Carolina and 23 at College of Charleston last week.  Rowsey went 9-of-20 from the field and 6-of-12 from beyond the arc against the Catamounts.  He then went 8-of-11 from the field, 3-of-6 from the three-point line and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe at College of Charleston.  Against the Cougars, Rowsey scored six points in overtime -- including all four of his free throws, to give the Bulldogs the win.  For the week, he was 17-of-31 from the field ( =54.8), 9-of-18 from three-point range and averaged 2.5 assists


Rowsey and the Bulldogs play in the Preseason NIT starting tonight with a game at #4 Duke that will be televised by ESPNU at 7 p.m.
