ROCK HILL, S.C. – Senior Corey McClintock set a school record in the hammer throw and finished in second place on Thursday in the first day of the Big South Conference Championships held at Belk Stadium at Winthrop.


McClintock had a throw of 51.31 meters as she set a school record for the third straight meet. She earned eight points for the Bulldogs as Asheville finished with 14 points on Thursday and is in fourth place.


Kasey Briggs came in fifth in the 10,000 meters as she posted a time of 37:39. Adrian Etheridge earned a point for the Blue & White with an eighth place finish at 38:28.  Erin Dalton took 11th at 39:01, followed by Sarah Heisner in 12th at 39:14.


Argia Gibson posted an eighth-place finish in the long jump at 5.39 meters.


On the men’s side, Kurt Hibert took seventh in the hammer throw with a throw of 54.76 meters.


Skyler Winchester came in 15th in the 10,000 meters at a time of 32:43.  Courtney Henry competed in the long jump at 6.65 meters.


The second day of the championships will begin on Friday at 10 a.m.
