The UNC Asheville baseball program has two players playing minor league baseball this year and both have been playing well as of late.

Outfielder Kevin Mattison has been playing in the outfield for the Nashville Sounds of the Triple A Pacific Coast League. The Sounds are affiliated with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Kevin has struggled a little bit with his hitting this year but got red-hot in July and is now hitting .219 overall. He has seven home runs, 11 doubles, three triples and 29 RBIs. Kevin is second on the team in stolen bases with 13 and has helped put Nashville in first place in its division.

Right-handed pitcher Ryan Dull has enjoyed a solid season with the Midland RockHounds of the Double A Texas League. Midland is affiliated with Oakland A’s, the team with the best record in the major leagues right now.

Dull has been pitching out of the bullpen. He is 4-5 on the year with three saves and a 3.35 ERA. Ryan 46 strikeouts in 45.2 innings of work. Dull has walked just 13 batters this season.

His work has helped put Midland in first place in the second half of the season in the South Division.
