DAVIDSON, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women’s swim team defeated VMI and fell to Davidson in a tri-meet held at the Davidson Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs roared past VMI, 179-68 before falling to the Wildcats, 187-87.
“I am proud of the way the battled today,” stated Bulldog coach Elizabeth Lykins. “We earned fourlifetime bests and are excited for more to come on Friday at our home opener.”
Asheville got off to a good start with a second place in the 200 medley relay. The quartet of Reid Jackson, Alessandra Troncoso, Alexandra van Dorsten and Ashley Ireland posted a time of 1:51.51.
Galen Broido finished third in the 1000 freestyle as she had a time of 10:43.61. She also took second in the 200 backstroke (2:15.42). Freshman Kenzie Hart finished third in the 200 backstroke at a time of 2:18.36.
Broido took second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:18.90.
Troncoso came in second at the 100 breastroke as she posted a time of 1:06.95. She finished first in the 100 butterfly at 1:02.15. Van Dorsten came in second at 1:02.90.
UNC Asheville will host its first home meet at Justice Center Pool on Friday night when the Bulldogs host Radford starting at 5 p.m.
