ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women’s swim team heads to Knoxville Wednesday morning for the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association championship that will be held at the Allan Jones Aquatics Center on the campus of the University of Tennessee, and will continue through Saturday, Feb. 22.

The Bulldogs have enjoyed a successful 2014 season as they finished with a 6-5 record in dual meets. Last week, freshman Alexandra van Dorsten was named CCSA Swimmer of the Week for the first time since the program was reestablished in the fall of 2012.

Second-year coach Elizabeth Lykins is looking forward to this weekend’s championship.

"Our team has worked hard for this moment and we are excited to compete against the best in the CCSA,” stated Lykins.  “The team has continually gotten better from the start of practice in August to now, and it’s time to show our progress in the pool. We will swim hard, have fun and represent UNC Asheville the Bulldog way."

The CCSA Championship gets underway on Wednesday, February 19 at 6:00pm. Events will begin daily at 10:00am for the duration on the championship.
