The fall 2012 Scholar All America Team honors have been announced by the College Swim Coaches Association of America and UNC Asheville's first-year women's program is among the honorees.

The Bulldog swimmers earned a 3.22 team GPA in the fall and that puts them as the second highest Division I public university from North Carolina. They were one of five schools in the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association to be recognized for their work in the classroom. The other schools were Davidson, Florida Gulf Coast, Gardner-Webb and Georgia Southern.

"What a great week for UNC Asheville Swimming!  We just returned home from swimming 30 lifetime best swims at conference championships and then find out we've been recognized as a Scholar All America Team by the CSCAA," stated Bulldog coach Elizabeth Lykins. "This is a true testament of the hard work our swimmers put in to their school work as well as the pool.

"I'd like to give a special thanks to Rebecca Keil, Director of Student Athlete Services," added Lykins. "She does a great job keeping all of the swimmers on track and assisting them with any academic concerns."
