The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has announced that the UNC Asheville women’s swim program is a CSCAA Scholar All-American team for the spring semester.

The Bulldog team had a 3.45 GPA for the spring semester. It’s the third highest GPA in the state of North Carolina as only East Carolina and Gardner-Webb have a higher one. Asheville participates in the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association and the Bulldogs are tied for the second highest GPA in the league. Gardner-Webb just edged Asheville out 3.47 to 3.45.

This past year was the first season for women’s swimming for Asheville after a more than 30-year hiatus. Despite only eight swimmers on the roster for most of the season, the Bulldogs finished ninth at the CCSA Championships last February as they finished in front of four other schools with full rosters.

“I’m very proud of our performance in the classroom,” commented Bulldog head coach Elizabeth Lykins. “The team works hard in the pool and in the classroom.”
