RADFORD, Va. - The UNC Asheville women's swim team picked up four individual event wins in the Bulldogs meet against Radford Saturday afternoon at Dedmon Center Pool.
The Lady Highlanders won the meet, 123-68 as they won seven events.
"Although we weren't able to pull off the win, I was happy to take away four individual event victories," commented Asheville coach Elizabeth Lykins. "We learned a lot this weekend and raced pretty well. I was really pleased with our effort, and we're only going to get better."
Ashley Ireland earned two individual first-place finishes on the day. She took first in the 50 yard Freestyle and 100 yard Freestyle. She posted a time of 25.95 in the 50 and 57.86 in the 100.
The Bulldogs went 1-2 in the 200 yard Breaststroke. Alessandra Troncoso came in first with a time of 2:28.47, while Chole' Carr finished second at 2:31.38.
Galen Broido had a lifetime best in the 200 backstroke as she came in first at a time of 2:10.95 Broido also had a lifetime best in the 200 individual medley at 2:14.94. She finished a close second behind Emily Turner of Radford.
UNC Asheville returns home in two weeks (Nov. 3) for its first regular-season home meet in 36 years when the Bulldogs host Campbell at 5 p.m.
