RADFORD, Va., - The UNC Asheville women's swim team will be in Radford starting today for the Highlander Invitational.


The Highlanders host UNC Asheville, Millersville, North Carolina A&T, Campbell and Mount St. Mary's in a three-day meet that begins at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday and concludes at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Thursday and Friday's time trials begin at 10:00 a.m. with the finals beginning at 6:00 p.m. Diving competition will be held following the morning session on each day. The meet concludes on Saturday with 9:00 a.m. trials and finals starting at 4:00 p.m.


Asheville is 1-3 on the season in dual meets. The Bulldogs hosted Campbell two weeks ago in the first home meet at Justice Center Pool in 36 years. Campbell won 179-83 but Asheville did post four individual wins.


Alessandra Troncoso continued her impressive rookie season with the Bulldogs. She finished in first place in the 50-yard Butterfly with a time of 27.45 and the 100-yard Breaststroke at 1:05.55. Chole Carr took first in the 50-yard Breaststroke as she posted a time of 31.92, while Galen Broido took first in the 500-yard Freestyle at a time of 5:18.20.


 The Bulldogs went 1-2 in the 100-yard Breaststroke. Finishing behind Troncoso was Carr at 1:08.77.
